Let Flowers “Make It Happen”
Haslett, MI (February 27, 2015) – “Make It Happen” with flowers and honor the women in your life on March 8, International Women’s Day. The holiday, celebrated around the world, recognizes the social, economic and professional achievements of women. It is also know as the United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace. “Make It Happen” is only one of the themes used to define the day and call for greater equality. The UN theme, for example, is “Empowering Women-Empowering Humanity: Picture It!”
Rodney Crittenden, executive vice president of the Michigan Floral Association, says flowers are the perfect vehicle for recognizing the accomplishments of women. “Many people are not even aware of this holiday. At our website, www.michiganfloral.org, consumers can find a florist in their area to help them honor the women in their lives whether they be grandmothers, mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, or just friends.”
International Women’s Day events are held worldwide. Business, political and community leaders speak at seminars, conferences, and various meetings. According to the UN website: “It is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.”
